WWEX Kicks Off NASCAR Race Weekend in Richmond Giving Back to Local Community

RICHMOND, Va. (July 24, 2023) — Worldwide Express (WWEX), the “Official Logistics Partner of NASCAR,” will hold a series of events with Richmond Raceway to benefit local community organizations, including UMFS and Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. The events come as a part of WWEX’s entitlement sponsorship of NASCAR’s Craftsman Truck Series race, the Worldwide Express 250 for Carrier Appreciation, on July 29.

For its second entitlement race, WWEX will recognize and celebrate its 75+ integral carrier partners while giving back to the local community. Notably, WWEX is donating hundreds of tickets to UMFS families and patients and team members at CHoR to attend the Worldwide Express 250.

“We’ve had an incredible NASCAR season so far, and we especially look forward to the weekend in Richmond to celebrate our carrier partners and give back to the community,” said Mike Grayson, Worldwide Express executive vice president. “Last year, we raised tens of thousands of dollars in support of two amazing Virginia organizations, and we’re excited to show our continued support this year!”

Track Laps for Charity: July 26 At Richmond Raceway

WWEX and Richmond Raceway will host Track Laps for Charity, an interactive fan event at the track on Wednesday, July 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. ET. For a $20 donation, the Richmond community will have the opportunity to drive their personal vehicles around the track for five laps at 55 MPH. This summer’s Track Laps for Charity will benefit UMFS.

To kick off the event, WWEX’s longtime Richmond-based carrier partner, Estes, will take a tractor-trailer for a spin around the track. Estes will also work with the Ultimate Backpack Supply Drive to deliver school supplies to students in Richmond after the event, thanks to a relationship facilitated by WWEX. The event is free to the public and will include a DJ, photo ops, and additional activities for attendees.

“Our longtime partnership with WWEX is always delivering something new and exciting, and we’re thrilled to be a part of the fun with this year’s summer race at Richmond Raceway,” said Will Hupp. director of hub operations at Estes. “We jumped at the chance to support our friends again at UMFS, CHoR and be a part of the Ultimate Backpack Supply Drive.” “UMFS is grateful to have the unwavering support from WWEX and our neighbors at Estes Express Lines,” said Nancy Toscano, president and CEO at UMFS. “Benefitting from initiatives like this goes a long way to support our programs and we’re honored to be the recipient of such a fun and exciting part of race weekend in Richmond.”

Driver Meet and Greet: July 27 At Children’s Hospital Of Richmond At VCU

On Thursday, July 27, NASCAR drivers Bayley Currey and Carson Hocevar, alongside Richmond Raceway President Lori Collier Waran, will make a pit stop to visit Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. The drivers will engage with patients and families and pass out racing-themed goodies including dozens of Speedy Bears courtesy of the NASCAR Foundation.

“We’re so grateful to be a part of this exciting opportunity through WWEX. A special day like this with NASCAR drivers and Richmond Raceway will bring joy to the children and families and leave a lasting positive memory for them all,” said Stephanie Allan, vice president for corporate partnerships at Children’s Hospital Foundation.  Last year, WWEX was named the Official Logistics Partner of NASCAR in a multi-year deal. The Richmond summer race weekend comes off the heels of the first-of-its-kind NASCAR Chicago Street Race. WWEX served an integral role in creating the experience for NASCAR fans and the city of Chicago, providing logistical support for the transport and assembly of the street course over a two-week span.
