Leadership Team

It takes business owners to truly understand the logistics needs of small and midsize businesses. That’s part of what makes the Worldwide Express leadership team so successful – many of our key leaders possess an inherent entrepreneurial mindset, having started out as franchise owners themselves.

Founder David Kiger came up with the idea for Worldwide Express while working for Trammell Crow Company in Houston. He was looking for ways to save the firm money and noticed the substantial amount being spent on express shipping. The carrier refused to negotiate a discount based on the Trammell Crow’s aggregate volume. He realized there must be many companies in the same predicament. Then, armed only with $5,000 and a smart business plan, Kiger started Worldwide Express out of his spare bedroom. Since then, he has successfully led all aspects of the company’s rapid growth to more than 150 franchises nationwide and run-rate sales exceeding $550 million. Along the way, Kiger also was principal architect of the recapitalization of Worldwide Express with Allied Capital (ALD), completed in 2007. David currently serves on the Board of Directors of Worldwide. Prior to his time with Trammell Crow, where he oversaw commercial retail marketing and leasing, Kiger was employed by Baxter Healthcare. Kiger earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama.
